Seborrheic keratosis is one of the most common noncancerous skin growths in older adults. It usually appears as a brown, black or light tan growth on the face, chest, shoulders or back. The growths often start out as small, rough areas. Over time, they tend to develop a thick, wart-like, surface. They’re often described as having a “stuck-on” appearance, and can also be itchy and unsightly.
